Built Through Generations

Craftsmanship has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, beginning with time spent in the shop with my dad. That experience shaped not only how I work, but what I value about the craft—the patience, care, and satisfaction that come from building something with your own hands. Today, through Sleepy Saw, I create handcrafted furniture and unique wood pieces that highlight the natural character of the material, with a focus on thoughtful design, quality, and building things made to last. Now I get to share the shop with my son and daughter, passing along the same skills and experiences my dad shared with me. For me, Sleepy Saw is about more than furniture; it’s about carrying craftsmanship from one generation to the next.

The Sleepy Saw name and logo tell another part of that story. I do much of my woodworking early in the morning, before the rest of the house wakes up—when the shop is quiet, the day is just beginning, and I’m usually still a little sleepy. That’s where the name came from. The mountains and evergreens in the logo represent my home in the Pacific Northwest, while the rising sun represents those early mornings spent in the shop. Together, they capture what Sleepy Saw means to me: early mornings, the Pacific Northwest, family, and a love of creating something lasting by hand.
